Overview
The Spraay app aims to provide users with a virtual money spraying experience using their mobile devices. By replicating the action of physically spraying money, Spraay App seeks to offer a fun and engaging way for guests to celebrate and express their generosity at events.
Problem
The conventional practice of physically spraying money at events lacks a contemporary and digital solution, hindering engagement, convenience, and financial efficiency. This practice excludes modern fintech capabilities and limits inclusivity. Event organizers face challenges in effectively managing generosity, while guests lack a streamlined method to contribute or transact securely.
Solution
Incorporating the fintech aspect into this context, a mobile app is essential to revolutionize this cultural practice. This app not only provides a digital alternative for money spraying but also integrates fintech functions for secure transactions, seamless bill payments, and peer-to-peer gifting. This innovative solution addresses the gap between tradition and modernity, elevating event experiences and financial interactions while fostering a sense of community and celebration.

My Role
As a product designer for the Spraay App project, my role was pivotal in transforming the concept into a user-centered, functional, and visually appealing digital solution. My responsibilities spanned across various stages of the product lifecycle, from conceptualization to final execution.
User Research
Primary Research
To better understand user preferences, motivations, and behaviors related to money spraying and event engagement, I conducted a survey among a diverse group of potential users who frequently attend events and gatherings.
Findings
The survey revealed that 96% of respondents were familiar with money spraying, and 75% expressed interest in a digital alternative. I also found out that users know physical spraying of cash is a criminal offense in Nigeria but they cannot afford to not spray at events as it’s inherent in their cultures. Users emphasized the importance of realistic spraying animations and secure transactions. Additionally, 90% considered engaging in celebratory activities as a vital part of events.
Secondary Research
I conducted secondary research to gather insights from existing apps, platforms, and trends in both virtual event engagement and fintech. However, there are no products that address the spraying function which makes Spraay App a unique solution. The secondary research basically focuses on;
Market Reports: Fintech industry reports detailing the growth of digital payment platforms and mobile wallets.
App Store Reviews: Analyzing user reviews and ratings of similar event engagement and fintech apps.
Expert Interviews: Conversations with fintech experts on how digital platforms enhance financial transactions.
Findings
The fintech sector has witnessed significant growth, with users adopting digital payment methods for convenience and security.
Users prioritize secure transactions in fintech apps, underscoring the importance of robust security measures for the Spraay App's success.
The combination of tradition and technology has the potential to create an inclusive event experience, catering to both the digitally inclined and those who value cultural practices.
Successful fintech apps offer a range of payment options to cater to user preferences, suggesting that the Spraay App's integration of various transaction methods could enhance user adoption.
Analyzing user reviews of similar apps reveals that constant communication with users, prompt issue resolution, and user-centric updates contribute to positive app experiences.

Based on the conducted primary and secondary research, several crucial insights emerged that guided the design strategy for the Spraay App. The design strategy for the Spraay App encompassed the following key principles:

Engagement-Driven Design: Prioritize interactive features, such as realistic spraying animations and tactile feedback, to enhance user engagement and create a joyful experience.

User-Centric Communication: Maintain an open channel of communication with users, promptly addressing concerns, and gathering feedback to continually enhance the app.
